And during this period the food which is prepared for the devotees or the people on fast is totally different and they are cooked without salt in it. Navratri is a festival which is mostly celebrated in the northeast and eastern part of India. Kids in schools have a holiday on the 7th, 8th and the 9th day. As those are the last days of the festival. The tenth day is also known as the Vijayadashami or Dussehra.
